Shaklee’s Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate Review

Shaklee Dishwasher
Shaklee’s Dishwasher Powder Concentrate is a highly effective, eco-friendly way to wash your dishes without exposing your family or the Earth to harmful toxic chemicals.  At least that’s what Shaklee says.

I grew up on Shaklee products. I know they’re healthier and better for you. I believe that Shaklee is a good company who is making massive strides on providing healthier, greener cleaning products.  My only problem is that they won’t tell you what their ingredients are.

Shaklee’s Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate really is highly effective and works great.  The packaging says to use two scoops of powder, but I only need to use one (even with hard water) so one package of powder lasts for 84 loads – a great cost saver.

I’m not arguing that Shaklee products, especially this Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate, don’t work. They work very well! And with the concentrated products, you get so much more for your money, so they really do save you money in the long run.

What I don’t like, though, is that Shaklee doesn’t reveal all of its ingredients. Cleaning product ingredients are considered proprietary information by the U.S. government and therefore haven’t been required to be listed on labels for decades.

I read the ingredients of the foods that I eat and put in my body. I read the ingredients of the cosmetics and personal care items that I apply to my skin. So why shouldn’t I be allowed to read the ingredients of a product that I will be inhaling through the normal course of cleaning, and possibly absorbing through my body via contact with my skin?

If Shaklee really wants to be a player in the all-natural, non-toxic green cleaning product game, it’s going to have to start listing its ingredients. If Shaklee would just give its more health-conscious consumers what they’ve always wanted – full disclosure of what chemicals are used in their highly effective cleaning products - then I think you’d see a huge wave of consumers start making the switch to Shaklee. Until then, savvy consumers want to know what they’re buying, and there are other companies that are more than willing to tell you what you want to know.

Why It’s Better For Your Health:  Shaklee’s Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate has no fragrances, which can cause problems with allergies and asthma.

The Concentrate contains no chlorine, which would be released into the air that you breathe via the hot water and steam of a normal dishwashing cycle.

Why It’s Better For the Earth: Shaklee’s Dish Wash  Automatic Concentrate contains no phosphates, which, when released into the public waterways via dishwasher detergents and laundry detergents, are causing massive algae blooms in waterways and killing marine life and choking out the oxygen in the water.
The dishwasher powder detergents are biodegradable.

Shaklee Lipstick

The average woman can ingest up to 6 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime. Think about it – you will accidentally eat and digest lip products that equal the weight of a 1/2 gallon of milk at some point in your lifetime. Since we all know that a tube of lipstick doesn’t weigh that much, that’s a lot of lip product!
So it makes sense that you want something as healthy and natural as can be. Shaklee Lipstick is just one of those products.
Shaklee’s Minerelle’s Lipstick is made with a surprisingly wholesome blend of natural based ingredients for being such a great lipstick with incredible color and long lasting staying power.
Pink SapphireAmong the major ingredients in Shaklee lipstick is castor seed oil, jojoba seed oil, sunflower seed oil, shea butter and beeswax.  Although Shaklee lipstick has not been tested by the Environmental Working Group or listed in its Cosmetic Safety Database, looking up the individual ingredients of Shaklee’s lipstick inthe Cosmetic Safety Database shows that they all have very little to no toxicity.  With most scores ranging from 0-2 on a scale of 10 (with 10 being the worst), Shaklee’s lipstick ingredients are among the healthiest that you will find.
For such a healthier lipstick, you’d be surprised at how well Shaklee lipstick performs.  It goes on smooth and lightweight, not sticky; there’s no weird taste or smell; it lasts for a long time; and the colors are nice.
CinnamauveI tried out Cinnamauve (shown to the left),  a medium universal shade that’s a little rosy but not too pink.  Though it looks like it should just work for cool tone skin colors, it also looks great on warm tones, too.
Worried about ordering online since Shaklee is not available in stores, or are you worried about a Shaklee representative constantly harassing you to buy products?  Don’t be. While you can order face to face with a Shaklee distributor, it’s also just as easy to order online. And with Shaklee’s 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, if you don’t love it, you can return it with no problems.

Why It’s Better For Your Health: If you’re going to be ingesting lipstick through the normal course of eating, drinking, chewing on your lips, etc., then you better make sure that it’s as healthy as can be.  Shaklee’s lipstick ingredients are low in toxicity and most are natural and plant based.
Shaklee lipsticks are paraben free, meaning no harmful carcinogens are touching your lips.

Why It’s Better For the Earth:  Shaklee’s lipstick ingredients are made from renewable plant based ingredients, such as jojoba and castor seeds, instead of non-renewable products such as petrolatum and mineral oil which comes from petroleum.
